Multiferroic systems have been a long-lasting and productive research field of condensed matter physics in both fundamental and applied perspectives. Useful multiferroic systems require significant magnetoelectric coupling between ferroelectric and magnetic moments which however is often found to be quite weak or is significant only at cryogenic temperatures. Here we propose to investigate the nature of magnetic state of a new multiferroric material Lu0.5Sc0.5FeO3 using muon spin rotation and relaxation (μSR) measurement.
