Does the muon reach thermal equilibrium in a frustrated magnet?

DOI

The usual assumption that the muon's polarisation relaxes to zero at long times may be incorrect at high B and low T: for 5T and 30mK the Brillouin function gives P=49%. We plan to measure relaxation in a frustrated magnet, where the muon may reach equilibrium with the other spins or the lattice even under these extreme conditions. Reversing the magnetic field should reverse the effect.
