Characterization of the complete mitochondrial genome of Deepwater flathead, Parabembras curta Temminck & Schlegel, 1843 (Osteichthyes: Perciformes) and its phylogenetic analysis

Parabembras curta is distributed from Southern Japan, East China Sea to Taiwan. In this study, we detected the complete mitochondria genome of P. curta, and obtain closed-loop of 16,496 bp in length. The mitogenome contained 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNA genes (tRNAs), and two rRNA genes (rRNAs). The positions and sequences of genes were consistent with those of known Scorpaeniformes species. The nucleotide composition was highly A+T biased, accounting for 55.25% of the whole mitogenome. The Maximum Likelihood (ML) phylogenetic analysis based on the concatenated nucleotide sequences of 12 PCGs showed that P. curta was more closely related to Scalicus amiscus. The complete mitogenome of P. curta would help understand Scorpaeniformes evolution.
