Benthic microbial diversity of shallow hydrothermal vents

eDNA metabarcoding of 16S rRNA from top sediments and microbialites in a hydrothermal submarine groundwater discharge (SGD) pockmark were conducted in parallel with exploratory geochemical characterization of groundwater discharge. We aim to identify potential bioindicators at the SGD site based on microbial indicator taxa and predictive functional profiling that may be used to assess and monitor the state of the habitat.
