The giant fresh water prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii is an economically important crustacean around the world. Gene discovery in this species is limited, despite great interest in various research fields. In this study, we performed a transcriptome analysis from the hepatopancreas of M. rosenbergii using a high-throughput sequencing method (Illumina HiSeqTM2000). The aim of this study was to generate large number of trancripts would lead the path for future genomics research in the freshwater prawn.
