RNA-seq analysis of the kidneys of Japanese red stingray (Hemitrygon akajei)

The nephrons of marine cartilaginous fishes are among the most structurally complicated in vertebrates, which dedicate to excreting water while retaining urea from the glomerular filtrate. To understand the urea reabsorption mechanism and accompanying renal transporters of Japanese red stingray, we performed RNA-seq on the stingray kidney. The read data were assembled and used as a reference database.
