Investigation of spin-glass behaviour in the cubic compound PrRhSn3 using muSR

Recently we have investigated the cubic compound PrRhSn3 using the dc and ac susceptibilities and the heat capacity. We found an evidence for the cluster-glass behavior with a freezing temperature, Tf = 4.3 K. The frequency dependence of Tf is well described by the Vogel-Fulcher law with activation energy Ea = 21.3 K, and within the framework of critical slowing down, we estimated characteristic time constant 2.2 x 10^-10 s and critical exponent 10.86. All these results provide a strong evidence for the formation of a cluster-glass state in PrRhSn3. We believe that the origin of spin-glass behaviour lies in the dynamic fluctuations of the CEF levels as has been proposed for PrAu2Si2. Therefore it would be of interest to confirm the spin-glass behaviour in this compound using muon spin relaxation/rotation technique, which is ideal to probe the spin-glass behaviour.
