Vibrational Densities of States from Amorphous Nanocomposites for Novel Drug Delivery

DOI

In the current proposal, we require TOSCA to investigate by vibrational spectroscopy the apparent amorphous nature of the prototype drug molecule ibuprofen confined by sublimation and capillary condensation in a variety of nanoporous materials. By comparing the vibrational density of states (VDOS) of these organic molecules both in their crystalline states and nanoconfined states, we can better characterize the effect of nanosequestration on their crystallinity and determine if the amorphous signature eluded to by PXRD is indeed manifested by an altered VDOS. We propose to measure a variety of samples at 15 K.
