Digitized retrogressive thaw slump polygons on Banks Island and Victoria Island in the Canadian Arctic

DOI

The boundaries of retrogressive thaw slumps (RTSs) in the Canadian Arctic were manually digitized as shapefile on 2017 PlanetScope satellite imagery (https://api.planet.com) using QGIS. The satellite imagery was requested through Planet's Education and Research Program. Specifically, four study sites, including three sites (S1, S2, S4) on Banks Island and one site (S3) on Victoria Island, were chosen for RTS digitization. S1 is located between 72.93 °N - 73.16 °N and 117.88 °W - 118.72 °W; S2 is located between 72.79 °N - 72.86 °N and 118.82 °W - 119.11 °W; S3 is located between 72.46 °N - 72.56 °N and 117.86 °W - 118.17 °W; S4 is located between 71.39 °N - 71.45 °N and 122.09 °W - 122.21 °W. The imagery date of S1, S2 and S3 is 2017/08/18, and the imagery date of S4 is 2017/07/19. There are 242, 52, 43 and 28 RTS boundaries on S1, S2, S3 and S4, respectively. The field "type" in the shapefile means the location where the RTS initiated.

The dataset contains four folders for the four study sites. Each folder contains the digitized RTS boundaries for each study site.
