Sediment depth is given in mbsf. All inter and intra laboratory comparison data are normalized to NIST SRM 981 values reported in Galer and Abouchami (1998) for comparison to Gutjahr et al. (2009, doi:10.1016/j.epsl.2009.07.020). Typical lithologies of ODP 1139 include interbedded gray to greenish gray nannofossil-bearing clay and claystone and nannofossil-bearing ooze and chalk. Duplicate samples were chemically processed and analyzed one year after the initial samples.
