The Young People's Social Attitudes Survey, 2003 (YPSA) is an offshoot of the British Social Attitudes Survey, 2003 (BSA) (held at the UK Data Archive (UKDA) under SN 5235). It was designed to explore the attitudes and values of children and young people and make comparisons with those held by adults in 2003 and with other young people interviewed on the 1998 and 1994 YPSA (held under SN 4231 and SN 3629 respectively). All young people aged 12-19 living in the households of BSA respondents were approached for interview.

Main Topics:

The data contain 663 respondents aged 12-19 from a face-to-face interview, covering: social attitudes; gender differences; problems at school; views about education and work; politics and decision-making; prejudice and morality; fulfilment; friends and social networks; household tasks; demographic characteristics. The data may be linked via serial number to the adult in the household for the 2003 British Social Attitudes Survey.
