Chlorophyll pigments from the Namibian upwelling system during Discovery 356

DOI

Chlorophyll-a data from the cruise number D-356 with research vessel "Discovery" from 10.9.-13.10.2010 in front of Namibia. Samples taken by CTD- rosette sampler from different depths. Filtration through GF/F filters immediately on board, filters frozen, transported to the institute.Procedure as described by WASMUND et al. (2006, http://www.iopan.gda.pl/oceanologia/481wasmu.pdf). However, a new fluorometer was used which measured according to the principle of WELSCHMEYER (1994, http://www.jstor.org/stable/2838404). Therefore, the chlorophyll a data were corrected for chlorophyll b, but not for pheopigments.Formula:Chl.a-tot [mgm-3] = F0 * KX * VE * VPr*-1KX = linear calibration factor [µg chl.a/L per fluorescence unit]F0 = rel. fluorescenceVE = extraction volume [ml]VPr = filtration volume of the sample [ml]
