Bacteria Biotope 2019 is a set of PubMed abstracts and full-text excerpts manually annotated for training and evaluating Information Extraction systems. The documents were selected on the topic of microbial biodiversity. The annotations denote microbe taxa their living habitats and phenotypes.

Bacteria Biotope 2019 was proposed as a task in the BioNLP Open Shared Tasks 2019 and meets the BioNLP-OST standards of quality, originality and data formats. The tasks include Named Entity Recognition, Named Entity Normalization, Relation Extraction, and Knowledge Graph Acquisition.
