Understanding composition-driven anomalous tetragonality in a ferroelectric solid solution

DOI

The primary aim of this proposal to investigate a series of newly discovered Bi- containing ferroelectric systems based on Bi(Me’Me’’)O3-PbTiO3 perovskite through studying their pair distribution function (PDF) as a function of composition and temperature to different local structural correlations that affect the properties of the system. Total scattering technique which renders pair distribution functions provides information on the local environment of each species which is crucial for ferroelectric systems since properties are mostly driven by local polarizations. We propose to use GEM instrument for this study, which is a dedicated instrument for the PDF measurements.
