The exploration of spin waves and magnetic interactions in BaFe12O19

DOI

As a member of the large hexagonal ferrite families, M-type barium ferrite BaFe12O19 has been largely investigated by the researchers owing to its rich properties. Recently, a study carried on BaFe12O19 shows it exhibits quantum paraelectricity with geometric frustration at low temperature and it could be a candidate of newly proposed “quantum electric-dipole liquid” by results of transport measurements on its dielectric permittivity, heat capacity and thermal conductivity. BaFe12O19 is a good insulator with a ferrimagnetic ordering below 720K. However, the exploration for its spin dynamics and magnetic interactions are still lacking. we propose to carry out experiments on it to determine its spin wave spectrum. The results will conclusively figure out the spin dynamic properties and establish a basis for investigating the possible newly discovered quantum electric-dipole liquid state.
