Dynamics of poly-acrylonitrile in polymer-layered silicate micro-objects

DOI

We propose to measure vibrational spectra from poly-acrylonitrile confined in nanoporous silica matrixes. Polymers confined in silica have recently been the subject of great scientific interest. Milan-Bicocca University has developed a method to create nanocomposite micro-objects of different shapes made of mesoporous silica with polymers. While the shapes and characteristics at nanometer scales of the obtained nanocomposites has been investigated with different means, the dynamical aspects of such systems are quite unexplored. In particular, we plan to measure the vibrational spectra of samples that have undergone different heat treatments after polimerisation, resulting in modifications of the structure of the confined polymer chain.
