Trophic and non-trophic effects of fish and macroinvertebrates on carbon emissions

Dataset belongs to a full-factorial aquaria experiment conducted in 2019 at the IWWR of Radboud University. The aim of the experiment was to evaluate the effects of benthic and pelagic fish on CO2 and CH4 diffusion and ebullition, as well as on CH4 production and oxidation. Five treatments with four replicates were compared during 86 days: absence of fish (control); permanent presence of benthivorous fish (common carps, CP) or zooplanktivorous fish (sticklebacks, SP); intermittent presence of carps (CI) or sticklebacks (SI). The experiment was conducted in a temperature and light-controlled climate room.

Dataset information contains: -GHG estimations every 11 days: CO2 and CH4 diffusive flux, CH4 ebullitive flux , surface and porewater dissolved concentrations of CO2 and CH4 - Surface water variables every 11 days: temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, alkalinity, turbidity, chlorophyll-a, total inorganic carbon. -Surface water variables at days 1, 46, and 86 of the experiment: total suspended solids, organic matter, nutrients (NH4, NO3 and PO4). -Porewater variables at days 1, 46 and 86 of the experiment: nutrients (NH4, NO3 and PO4). -Sediment parameters at the beginning and final times: carbon and nitrogen content, organic matter, oxygen penetration depth according to colored layer (just final time). -zooplankton and macrofauna abundances -Microbiota at days 1, 46, and 86 of the experiment: MOB and methanogens abundances according to pmoA and mrcA gen copy/mL. -CH4 production and oxidation incubation at the end of the experiment
