Temperature dependence on mangetic excitations from the high Tc cuprate BSCCO

DOI

We plan to continue inelastic neutron scattering measurements on the high Tc cuprate superconductor BSCCO with optimum doping. In the proposed experiment, we will have about 40 grams of high quality single crystals aligned together. and would like to accomplish the following objectives:1. Measurements at different temperatures to understand how the excitation spectrum evolves with temperature.2. Measurements with different incident energies to manually tune the bilayer structure factor so that contributions from the acoustic and optic modes can be better understood.
