Is CuO multiferroic at room temperatures under high pressure ?

DOI

Two recent high profile theoretical studies predict the existence of room temperature multiferroicity in CuO at high pressures. If confirmed experimentally, this would represent a very significant step in the field of multiferroics and is bound to attract a lot of interest from experimental groups around the world. We would therefore like to apply for DD time to perform this exciting experiment as soon as possible. We believe we have the perfect combination of high pressure experience, previous work on CuO (incl. synthesis) and instrumentation to be the first to observe this phenomenon.
