Data on collected household waste as well as survey data on household attitudes towards waste separation. Survey data also includes warnings issued for not separating waste correctly. Data allows to evaluate effect on waste separation by households of making it illegal not to separate waste then enforcing that rule.
Data files -
Two cleaned data files in STATA 17 format: ‘vollaard_vansoest_2023_waste.dta’;
‘vollaard_vansoest_2023_survey.dta.
The STATA 17 file ‘vollaard_vansoest_2023.do’ contains the code to replicate all the
figures and tables in Vollaard and Van Soest (2023), which calls on the two data
files mentioned above.
Method: Data on collected waste in terms of weight as well as warnings issued were provided by the Tilburg Department of Sanitation (BAT). Survey data are based on an online survey among 10,000 households (invited by way of a letter) conducted in April, 2015.
Universe: 70,000 households that live in single-family homes serviced by curbside collection in the Tilburg area.
