Vegetation data of a pasture of Andossi in the Italian Alps

DOI

Floristic survey: A floristic survey was carried out at each sampling point, to detect the occurrence and abundance of plant species and to outline the main plant communities. Vegetation sampling was performed during the growing season (20th July) through point-quadrat analysis. Thirty-five plots, consisting of a 0.5 x 0.5 m quadrat with a 10 cm grid, were considered. At each node of the grid, the plant species touching the grid and the vertical line passing through the node were identified recording the number of contacts which is a good indicator of its relative abundance, while the overall number of contacts could be considered a proxy for the biomass of the whole community.Functional profile: The functional profile of each vegetation type was evaluated assessing for each species its Grime's CSR strategy through the approach proposed by Pierce et al. (2017; https://doi.org/10.1111/1365-2435.12722).
