The survey formed part of a wider project exploring the perspectives, concerns and strategies of secondary school teachers in constructing their careers in teaching. The overall aim of the project was to develop an understanding of the social construction of careers in teaching based on the career constructs held by teachers.

Variables The questionnaire covered the following five main areas: (1) general biographical information, (2) job satisfaction, (3) movement in teaching, (4) appointments procedures, (5) career profile.
