These data are part of an eight-nation survey which examined the expectations and political actions of adults, parent and child `pairs' and undergraduates.

Opinion of material standard of living and general quality of life (past, present and future), assessment of personal merit, the most important things in life (3 best and 3 worst). Political support (subject, father and mother), interest and participation, voting patterns, political efficacy, subjective social class.Which social groups respondents considered to be over rewarded or over privileged and which they thought were not rewarded sufficiently and/or denied basic rights.Rating of personal affinity with various social groups.Respondents' proposed course of action if a new law (local or national) were introduced which he/she regarded as unjust or harmful.Subjective assessment of position on political scale of Left - Right, personal definition of 'Left' and 'Right', personal political priorities.Attitudes to various forms of protest plus any personal experience, assessment of effectiveness.
