Influence of yttrium on temperature dependence of internal strain development in magnesium

This experiment is part of a broader programme studying the effects of alloying on the properties of magnesium alloys with the aim of improving formability and reducing mechanical anisotropy. In this particular experiment we will study the deformation behaviour over a range of temperatures of alloys varying in yttrium content, in order to gain a better understanding of how the suppression of twinning and dynamic recrystallisation by yttrium addition influences the build up of internal stresses and consequently texture development.
