Dies geschieht über ständige halböffentliche 'Kanäle', die das Diskussionsthema bezeichnen. Die Forschungsdaten der ersten Feldphase beinhalten die Chat-Protokolle aus zwei Kanälen: 'Medizin' und 'Alert_Redaktion', die zu wichtigen Orten für den schnellen Austausch über das Thema des Coronavirus-Ausbruchs wurden. Die Chatprotokolle sind nach Tag und Kanal geordnet. Der redaktionelle Austausch über eine Collaboration-Software, der bereits während der Feldarbeit im Januar 2020 etabliert wurde, hatte sich im Oktober 2020 aufgrund der Heimarbeitssituation intensiviert. Die Chat-Kanäle wurden zu einer Hauptplattform für den Austausch von redaktionellen Ressourcen und Wissen sowie für Diskussionen. Im Einvernehmen mit der Redaktion erhielt die Ethnographin Zugang zu den Kanälen der Redaktion. Die Chatprotokolle der zweiten Feldphase bilden 27 verschiedene Kanäle ab, die nach redaktionellen Themen und organisatorischen Themen unterteilt sind.
