Micro-inclusions identified with Raman spectroscopy in thirteen samples (1360 -2115 m) from the EastGRIP ice core

DOI

Micro-inclusions in thirteen samples (1360-2115 m) from the Last Glacial of the East Greenland Ice Core Project ice core in North-East Greenland were located with microstructure mapping and analysed with Raman spectroscopy. Ice samples were drilled and processed between 2018 and 2019, Raman analysis was performed between March 2021 and April 2022 at the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research. The samples are between 14.4 and 49.8 ka yr old and cover the Last Glacial period. Ice sample sizes are usually 10 x 10 mm; micro-inclusions are only a few micrometers large. The original ice core sample bag (55 cm long) number is indicated by four numbers, the number after the underscore implies the section of the respective bag. S_x indicated the sample number as referred to in the preprint, the depth is displayed in m. Located micro-inclusions are indicated with colored dots measured with Raman spectroscopy. Images point in the direction of the ice sheet surface, i.e. top is upwards.
